Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Yes, I offer both virtual and in-person appointments as of February 2022. Some reasons a client may choose virtual therapy is out of convenience (hello lunch break sesssion, goodbye Nashville traffic!), health precautions, or personal preference. Having been been 100% virtual prior to the COVID-19 vaccine being available, I can say that virtual therapy is an effective alternative to in person sessions.

How does therapy with you work?

I’m one-part practical, grounded coach; one-part compassionate cheerleader.

My goal is for you to feel seen and supported right where you are, so come as you are. I am openhearted, honest, accepting, and not like a typical therapist in my down-to-earth style. I create a calming presence that enables you to have the space you need to address the hard stuff. When I see you’re ready, I’ll challenge you to growth with warmth and kindness.

We will spend the first session going over intake paperwork and any questions you may have. I’ll act as more of a historian at first as I get familiar with your story. It is completely normal to feel nervous about your first session – and trust me, I’ve been there. I do my best to put my clients at ease by letting you see that I’m just a human, too. I most often see that people feel comfortable within a few sessions.

This is your time away from a busy life to slow down and be curious; to really examine all that you have going on and let go of what’s no longer working for you. When we learn to feel our feelings and tell our truth, amazing things can happen. It is possible to find joy and peace.

How does therapy help?

You’re here because you’re struggling with something. This could be a life transition, difficulty managing big emotions, feeling out of sorts in your relationships, or looking to grow in confidence and live a life that feels fulfilling to you. Just like every other area of your life, you will get out of therapy what you put into it. The more motivated you are for change, the more likely we can get you there.

How long does therapy last?

Therapy is so deeply personal and different for everyone, and I give feedback often about where I think you are in your process. I want to help you solve your problems so that you can go on with your life – on your terms. Many of my clients come to therapy with an idea of what they want to work on, and we establish goals together at their pace. Other clients will sometimes need more time to figure out what they’re looking for and begin to feel better over time.

At first, it’s best to be consistent and keep momentum in your progress by scheduling weekly or bi-weekly sessions.

What ages do you work with?

I provide individual therapy for adults of all genders, and find my clients are typically in their early 20’s up to late 50’s. People in this age range often say that they feel understood by and safe with me because I just “get it.”

Where is your office located?

My office is in East Nashville: 3936 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance. This is great news for you, as this helps protect your privacy and allows us to build a therapeutic relationship without the pressure of giving a diagnosis to an insurance provider. I can provide a superbill upon request, which is an itemized receipt that you can submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Paying for therapy should be as easy as possible, so I am happy to accept cash, credit card, check, or your HSA account.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

Please give me a call at (863) 991-3877. Not a fan of the phone? Send me an email, and we’ll go from there.

When we connect, I’ll ask you a few questions about what you’re looking for in therapy and how I can help. If we decide that I’m a good match, then we’ll schedule your first appointment. I’ll email you the intake paperwork.
